After years of managing complex residential developments, high-end custom builds, and luxury real estate sales, Ally founded Mountain Sparrow Home Services, LLC to bring professional-grade service and personal care to homes across Western North Carolina.

Michael Newbatt Smith is a second-generation builder, accomplished carpenter, and experienced all-around handyman, deeply rooted in craftsmanship. Born and raised in Awendaw, near Charleston, South Carolina, he grew up immersed in a family tradition of building and fixing things—learning from his father and grandfather and quickly making his own mark. An adventurous soul at heart, Michael ventured west to complete an intensive NOLES (National Outdoor Leadership School) course, sharpened his outdoor skill set, and then spent several years living in California before settling in vibrant Asheville, North Carolina.
Michael’s true joy lies in working with wood—shaping custom finishes, preserving heirloom details, and breathing life into old and new alike. When he’s not busy on the job site, you’ll find him playing music, often strumming guitar or banjo, and spending quality time with his faithful companion, Banjo—a wise 12-year-old beagle/foxhound mix whose presence perfectly complements Michael’s grounded, steady approach to life.
